John Argo - Troop 21 Eagle Scout #25
John Argo is a native of Americus, Georgia. His parents are the late John and Iris Argo of Americus. He and his wife Alice have one daughter Christine.
John attended Americus High School, Georgia Tech with a Navy ROTC scholarship and the U. S. Naval Academy from which he graduated in 1962. After graduation he served in the Navy on active duty as a Navy pilot from 1962 until 1970. His service included tours in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam War. After the Navy he served in the Navy Reserve from 1970 until 1982 retiring with the rank of Commander. John flew as a pilot for Delta Airline from 1970 until1998.
Since retiring and returning to Americus he has served on various boards and committees including: the Sumter Regional Hospital Management Board; the South Georgia Tech Foundation; the Sumter Electric Foundation; the Georgia Southwestern Foundation, and the Board of the Chehaw Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
John attends First Methodist Church of Americus where he has served on the Board of Trustees.
